Year 13 Musicians Take Centre Stage at Spring and Ensembles Concert at St Barnabas’ Church
By Miss Goodsell, Director of Music
This year’s annual Spring Concert was combined with the Ensembles Concert, resulting in a rich and varied evening of music at St Barnabas’ Church. The event showcased an exciting mix of performances, highlighting the remarkable talent across all year groups.
Year 13 soloists Amelia and Charlie captivated the audience with their performances of Romanze by Svendsen and the second movement from Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto, accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra.
We were also treated to two beautiful duets: Georgia and Abi delivered a sensitive rendition of Clara Schumann’s Das Veilchen, while Katerina (violin) and Kyra (harp) performed a delicate and expressive work by Maria Theresa von Paradis. Now led by Year 10 students Darcey and Anahita, A Cappella performed Lean on Me with great confidence.
The Session Orchestra, Jazz Bands, and Choirs all delivered spirited performances, with the evening concluding on a powerful note with Vale Decem from Doctor Who—a particular favourite of Mr Head.
The Year 7 piano trio made an impressive debut with their performance of Bridge’s Valse Russe, while the more established trio of Arabella, Caterina, and Katerina impressed the audience with a polished interpretation of a movement from Suk’s Piano Trio.
The concert also served as a heartfelt farewell to our Year 13 musicians. Their contributions were celebrated with a presentation of flowers at the end of the evening, marking their final performance with us.
