Year 6 Netball A Team Win GDST Event at Condover Hall!

By Charlotte G and Anna O-T,  6F

On Friday 28th of February all of the Year 6 netball squad went to a two night netball residential. During our stay we participated in activities and a netball tournament with many other GDST schools.

On Saturday both our teams played six 14 minute matches altogether, the B team won 3 matches lost 3 and the A Team won all their matches, meaning both teams were playing to win the cup on Sunday. On Sunday we knew we had some very good competition and sadly our A team lost their first game against another school, however we came back in our other 2 games which we won.

Overall, we were tied first in the cup from goal difference, this meant  we were in the final against Putney, the game was very close and with a lot of teamwork and individual effort we managed to stay tied or just ahead by one point. Eventually our defence got a turnover and even though no points were gained after the turnover, Putney did not get any more goals either. Thankfully after much effort and communication between all of our players we won the match 9-8 and came 1st in the tournament! The B team also did extremely well considering there was very hard competition and won a match but unfortunately lost two. Before we departed on our journey home there was a presentation to announce what place everyone came in the netball tournament, both our teams placed in the top ten with our A team coming in first place and winning the cup.
