Year 8 Art Curriculum Day

On 16th October 2024 Year 8 took part in an Art Curriculum Day. The purpose of this day was to allow students to take part in extended art lessons. Inspired by the Big Draw theme of ‘Drawing in Motion’, students took part in three Art workshops across the day. 

  1. Collaborative collage inspired by documenting the movement of water – inspired by artist Oscar Murillo who transformed the Turbine Hall at the Tate Modern into an enormous painting garden. Year 8 created a painted collage, documenting the movement and rhythm of Water.
  2. Flip book Animation: Students were able to delve into the world of animation and create a flip book using the still image to create a ‘Drawing in motion.’
  3. Become a Futurist Sculptor: Inspired by Futurist Giacomo Balla, students worked in teams to create Bird sculptures culminating in a sculptural installation, recreating the renowned ‘Flight of the swallows.
