Year 8 Spanish Trip to Cantabria 2025

There was a packed itinerary for our Year 8 Spanish students who travelled to Santander, Cantabria in the north of Spain last week, including a walking tour of Santander, three mornings at a Language School, Dance lesson (Flamenco/Latin), visit to a shopping centre, trips to Las Cuevas del Soplao, El Sandinero Beach, a night walk and a picnic in the park!

Here’s how two of our students thoroughly enjoyed their trip:

By Isla, Year 8

I went on the Spanish trip. It was really fun because we went to so many places! We stayed in Cantabria near a town called Santander in the north of Spain. I stayed in a dorm with my two friends in the Ibis hotel. We went to the beach, explored the town, went to some really cool caves and even went to a shopping centre which was my favourite place and bought lots of things! We went to Spanish school every morning for two hours where I learnt loads of new Spanish words! I loved going on a trip with friends, speaking Spanish and ordering ice cream!

By Alexandra, Year 8

The Spanish trip was amazing and I really enjoyed it! We went to loads of places and such as the caves of El Soplao and going to the language school helped me learn more developed and native Spanish, such as learning about the different words that are more commonly used rather than the actual words translated from English. It also gave me a chance to speak and work with other people in the year who I wouldn’t normally talk to. We were able to take a traditional dance workshop and explore the local town of Santander in Cantabria and we had early evening trips out the hotel to go to the supermarket and the local park. Overall, I really enjoyed going on this trip and learning about the culture and seeing different attractions all over the country.
