"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

140+ Clubs on Offer at 2023 Co-Curricular Fair

Last week saw the return of the ever popular Co-Curricular Fair where students get the chance to sign up for clubs run by our Sixth Form subject Reps and teachers. The Reps encouraged all students (especially the Year 7s) to both sign up for activities they are passionate already about and to try something brand new. Clubs take place before school, at lunchtime and after school.

With 140+ clubs ranging from VR Development to Debating, from ‘Let Them Eat Cake’ Club to Myths and Legends, from the likes of Formula 1 and Backstage Pass, to Chemistry Lotions and Potions, Pond Club and Sustainability, we were spoiled for choice!

Budding artists were able to sign up for Animation Club, Fine Art Life Drawing, Drawing and Painting Masterclass, Year 7 and 8 Art Club plus History of Art Debating Club. Meanwhile Drama offered opportunities for girls from all ages to get involved both on stage and backstage through our Backstage Pass Levels 1-3, Drama Club and LAMDA.

Also prominent at the fair were the Music Department with over 20 clubs on offer. For our singers, there were opportunities within the Choir, A Capella, Chamber and Show Choir. For our instrumentalists, there were opportunities within the orchestras (chamber, percussion, session and symphony), jazz bands, rock bands, string quartet, wind band, flute ensemble and even a bassoon quintet! Keen musicians also signed up for conducting, theory, music composition and aural clubs.

Our Games Captain, Sports Reps and PE staff were all kept on their toes managing requests for their 45 clubs across the various year groups, including Indoor Cricket, Dance, Fencing, Gymnastics, Indoor Rowing, Kickboxing, Swimming, Netball, Running, Football, Hockey, Strength and Conditioning, Taekwondo, Trampolining, Volleyball and Waterpolo.

In addition there were over 60 Weekly Special Interest Clubs including Amnesty, Breakfast Book Club, Brilliant Geographers, Christian Union, Classics Masterclasses, Coding Club, Coup Club, Creative Writing, Defining Gravity, Dissection, DT, Economics Society, EDT Industrial Cadets, F1 in Schools, Faraday Challenge, First Lego Leagues, GDST Space Technology Diploma, Glider Building Project, Hans Woyda, Have I got News for You, Junior Maths, LGBTQ, Let them eat cake, Maths Breakfast, Medsoc, Memento Mori, Myths and Legends, Physics Surgery, Pi Club, Play on Words, Politics Club, UK Space Design Competition. In addition, there were a range of fun Modern Foreign Languages Clubs covering culture, film and language for Chinese, German, French, Spanish featuring languages, culture and film.

As our new Head of Co-Curricular Mr Fernando said, a huge well done to all the students, Reps and staff for putting on such a great fair.

Looking forward to another exciting, action-packed term of activities!
