“I am delighted to welcome you to our Senior School, a school with a rich history of encouraging girls to be confident in their ambitions.”

Allison Saunders

Head

Our educational culture means that girls do not have to choose between academic ambition and a supportive community. Everyone who visits NHEHS remarks on our unique atmosphere, where girls support, celebrate and encourage each other.

Our teachers and support staff inspire students to believe in themselves. Results are of course important, but we wish girls to explore beyond the syllabus, and to develop knowledge and skills for life. Strong pastoral care is at the heart of our ethos, and teaches girls to be kind and generous-spirited, whilst learning how to voice ideas and to know how to lead their own initiatives.

Our myriad of extra-curricular opportunities encourages every girl to find her own niche, and to try out new activities, whether being bold in their achievements or simply for fun.

We have a strong emphasis on looking beyond the school gates. Through charity, volunteering and links with other schools and institutions, we encourage girls to have an outward-facing perspective, and to be confident and compassionate in the world beyond school.

🇪🇸Year 8 MFL trip to Sierra de Gredos🇪🇸

Reminiscing about the Year 8 MFL trip to Àvila and the breathtaking Sierra de Gredos that took place earlier this month 🇪🇸

Nature, small town adventures, archery, cooking & art workshops - action packed trip 🎉

The residential provided a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their Spanish through authentic, real-life experiences while discovering Spain’s culture, history and natural beauty. It was an unforgettable few days, filled with learning, adventure and lasting memories 😊

Last week, 23 @nhehsgdst Year 8's travelled to Karlsruhe for a 4 day residential 🎉

From meeting up with their penpals from Helmholtz grammar school & spending the day in their school, to a tour of the beautiful town & ending the trip off with a day of thrills at Europapark 🎢 - the residental had all the necessary requirements to learn more about speaking German and building confidence!

A wonderful trip where students got to immerse themselves in the German language and culture 👏🏻
