“I am delighted to welcome you to our Senior School, a school with a rich history of encouraging girls to be confident in their ambitions.”

Mr Matthew Shoults MA PGCE

Headmaster

Our educational culture means that girls do not have to choose between academic ambition and a supportive community. Everyone who visits NHEHS remarks on our unique atmosphere, where girls support, celebrate and encourage each other.

Our teachers and support staff inspire students to believe in themselves. Results are of course important, but we wish girls to explore beyond the syllabus, and to develop knowledge and skills for life. Strong pastoral care is at the heart of our ethos, and teaches girls to be kind and generous-spirited, whilst learning how to voice ideas and to know how to lead their own initiatives.

Our myriad of extra-curricular opportunities encourages every girl to find her own niche, and to try out new activities, whether being bold in their achievements or simply for fun.

We have a strong emphasis on looking beyond the school gates. Through charity, volunteering and links with other schools and institutions, we encourage girls to have an outward-facing perspective, and to be confident and compassionate in the world beyond school.
