"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Entrepreneurial Year 8 Take on the 10X Challenge!

Year 8 have been getting their entrepreneurial thinking caps on for the 10X Challenge, a national competition run by Young Enterprise, the UK’s leading enterprise and financial education charity for young people aged 11 – 19 years.

The challenge is open to all students in Year 8 and will take place for four weeks from Monday 29th April to Friday 25th May. We hope that taking part will help the students to develop employability skills, apply their academic learning and build career readiness, using real money and gaining business experience.

Students are pledged £10 from the 10X Bank and will use this start-up capital to get their enterprise off the ground. They have four weeks to set up their business – coming up with an idea of a product or service they can sell and gain first-hand experience of what it is like to be an entrepreneur.

A highlight of the challenge is the 10X Fair which will be held at lunchtime on May 16th where our young entrepreneurs present their products to sell to students and staff.

At the end of the Challenge the students pay back the £10 start-up pledge plus a £2 legacy contribution, but any profit can be kept and it is then up to the individuals and teams to decide how to spend it.

Good luck, Year 8!
