140 Students Take to the Stage at Annual Summer Concert
By Miss Goodsell, Director of Music
The Summer Concert was a celebration of all of the hard work the students have put in over the term. We were delighted to have the debut performances from 6 of our student conductors who have been working ensembles over the term. Not only did they conduct their respective ensembles, but they also rehearsed them and sourced the repertoire. Under Zara B’s baton, the Symphony Orchestra gave a fantastic rendition of Dvorak’s ‘Slavonic Dance Op.72 No.2’, with Dunya, Harmony Choir sang ‘Sunny’ by Hebb and with Lara, Lower School Chamber Choir sang ‘Colours of the Wind’ by Menken. Emma and Ingrid conducted Wind Band and Zara T, Jazz Band. A huge well done to all of the conductors.
We were also pleased to welcome five members of Year 6 into the Symphony Orchestra as part of a transition term before we welcome them full time in September.
The concert ended with a finale played and sung by all 140 performers with Miss Dunne’s arrangement of ‘Shine’ by Take That bringing the house down!
