"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Cultural Celebration Week 2024

We held our annual Cultural Celebration Week this week where students had the opportunity to celebrate the cultural diversity within our school through several  fun activities. The week also provided an opportunity to deepen social awareness and understanding of the cultural richness of the world beyond our immediate community.

The week got off to a great start on Monday when ten Year 10 students went across to the Junior School to read picture books about different cultures to some of our Reception girls. Judging by the smiles from both Junior and Senior pupils, everyone thoroughly enjoyed it!

On Tuesday, students were invited to come dressed in clothes from their own cultural heritage or an outfit they felt expressed their identity. See some of our students in our Instagram Reel below and our Junior girls dressed up here.

Our Cultural Celebration Week activities continued with a Cultural Fair at lunchtime on Wednesday. Pupils and staff from across the Senior School organised activities and prepared delicious snacks and traditional foods from different cultures. The biggest fair to date, there were 17 stalls in total, including one from the EU and one demonstrating Chinese calligraphy. All profits will go to Unicef. The fair was rounded up by a little Scottish dancing led by Miss Lindsay. Thanks to all those who made this year’s fairs such a huge success!

There were also assemblies led by our History of Art Reps and House Captains and food from different countries to enjoy at lunchtime. Finally, Friday saw the creation of two art installations celebrating our diverse range of backgrounds and heritages, with a giant map while students made hand cultural identity bunting in our House Families.
