GDST Film Features Y13 Aspiring Engineer Lydia & New Junior School Build

Engineering offers an amazing pathway where students can make a real difference to the world so over the last year we have added a number of new initiatives as part of our Senior School Engineering Programme. Engineering is about understanding how and why things work, calling on creativity and problem-solving skills, innovative thinking, with opportunities to get involved in all areas of designing, building and testing new tech and products.

The NHEHS Engineering Programme 2023-24 includes F1 in Schools (Year 8), SmallPeice Trust Glider Project (Year 9), Industrial Cadets Programme (Year 12, 13), UK Space Design Competition (Year 7,8, 13), Faraday Challenge (Year 8), CREST Award (Year 8), First LEGO League (Year 7), Arkwright Scholarship (Year 12).

Lydia, one of our Year 13 students who is keen to pursue an engineering career, has participated and led several of the Engineering initiatives and clubs. This included working alongside architects and engineers on our new Junior School build during 2023, which was featured in this film produced by the GDST. The film was part of a GDST series championing the uniqueness of our pupils and will be shown as part of a wider GDST campaign.
