"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Head Girls’ Team & Diversity Reps Inspired at Wimbledon Diversity Conference

By Ayna S, Year 13

On Wednesday, the 5th of October the Diversity Leads, and members of the Head Girls’ team were able to attend the Charter Conference hosted at Wimbledon High School GDST.  It was a brilliant day where we all learnt so much about leadership, constructive debate, and the meaning of true inclusion.

We began the day by hearing from the amazing guest speaker, Claire Harvey who shared her lived experience of being disabled and spoke at length about the changes we must make a society to be genuinely inclusive. We then completed two workshops, the first of which being about creating inclusive communities and the second about the art of civil discourse. As we were organised into tables of five with people from different schools, we were able to share ideas and work together to understand what initiatives we could come up with to enrich our schools. Now we are working on projects together such as organising a debate between schools that will encompass all we learnt from the workshops.

Overall, it was a fantastic day, and we would like to thank Wimbledon and Kings’ College for organising the conference.
