"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Hello from the New Head Girl Team!

Hello everyone!

We are the new 2022 Head Girl Team and we are really excited to work together with you and get to know you better throughout the year. This year each member of the team will act as a link to a specific year group in order to increase the communication and build a more personal relationship with you all. We want to briefly introduce some of our aims for this upcoming year.

Connections

We believe that the school community would greatly benefit from collaborating with other schools. By collaborating more with the Junior School in events such as Hill Fest we can increase the sense of community and unite further all the members of our school. In addition to this we would like to strengthen the links we have with other local schools and institutions. This may include a range of different events and activities such as a mixed sports clubs with other schools. By expanding this to an international level students could not only practice communicating in the language they are learning but also learn about school life in other countries. This could potentially lead to future international trips or multilingual events which would be extremely exciting.

Communication

As a Head Girl Team we greatly value listening to everyone’s opinions therefore one of our main aims this year is to increase and improve the communication across the school. We want to implement a forums system where each year group will have a session once a half term with their Head Girl Team member link to have a student led conversation about how to improve the school. Hopefully this will allow all voices to be heard and also help the school council meetings become more focused. This will ensure everyone’s ideas are listened to and will allow the Head Girl Team and school to take action in response to the feedback received.

Community

We believe at NHEHS we have a very special community and as a team we want to ensure this is maintained. Some of our ideas in order to achieve this are to create inter year ‘sisters’ or ‘families’ to create and strengthen bonds between different year groups. In addition to this a student ‘Ted Talk’ scheme would allow students to express their opinions on subjects they are interested in as well as improving their public speaking skills, something we greatly value. We want to help organise this wide range of events, also including a culture day potluck and sign language workshop, in order to carry on making our community as inclusive as possible and allow everyone’s interests to be explored and acknowledged.

We want to get to know you all and let everyone know we are friendly faces you can always come to talk to. Throughout this year we will be updating the online and physical notice boards as well as our Instagram (@nhehs.sfc) so make sure to keep looking for any new content to see what we have been up to.

We are so excited to see all the exciting things we can achieve all together next year! 🙂
