"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

House Competition Heats Up with 5 New Challenges

Not to be deterred by the latest lockdown, Mr Brownett and the House Captains launched the spring term’s House events at their assembly last week. Points are up for grabs for all taking part in any of the competitions with extra points awarded to category winners.

House Captains Li An and Francesca (Nightingale), Isobel and Annika (Hepburn) and Lily  and Mia (Eliot) took us through all the competitions:

First up is the House Debating competition (January – March). All can enter, with Year Group heats and a Grand Finale for four heat winners per group.

February will see the House Cake Decoration competition. This is open to Lower School (Years 7-9), Upper School (Years 10-13) and teachers! There will be two categories – cupcake decorating and round 8-inch cake decorating. Students can enter one or both by submitting a photo of their entry by February 8th.

The House Flip Art competition is again open to the whole senior school, with separate challenges for the Lower School and Upper School. The submission date is 22nd February (upload a short video of your flip book).

The House Bake Off will also be split into two categories – Lower and Upper Schools – and is anticipated to take place in March, but more details to follow as this was originally planned to be an in-school event.

The House Quiz Night will be an open challenge – so students, staff and parents can all take part and win points for the Houses! It promises to be lots of fun (there may be dressing up involved!) and will take place virtually on 5th February at 7.30 pm, with Mr Brownett to send out more details closer to the date.

Finally, additional House points can be earned by taking up the weekly #NHEHSdailysportschallenge set from Monday 18th January. Sports reps will be setting the challenge, with challenges being set in the #NHEHSdailysportschallenge ‘google classroom’ and on the PE Instagram/Twitter account.  Pupils need to upload on the google challenge their score (ideally with video proof) to get house points!

Every Friday Miss Newman will be hosting a Sports Quiz – results will contribute towards house points. This will be one of the listed ‘extra-curricular clubs’ listed by the PE department.

Remember to sign up on the Google links circulated last week! Good luck and may the best House win!
