Inspiring and Motivating – The GDST Sport Scholar Day

By Minna W, Year 10 Journalist Leader

On Friday 9th February, NHEHS Sport Scholars travelled to Sutton High School for the GDST Sport Scholars Day, which was run by the Mintridge Foundation.

Throughout the day, we took part in a range of activities and workshops run by amazing sportspeople, including former England Netball Captain Pamela Cookey. When we arrived, we got straight into our three activities – my first being a brilliant netball session run by Pamela Cookey! It was a fabulous opportunity to be coached by England’s top athletes, who are all so utterly inspirational. As well as netball, there were sessions in football, hockey, fitness and judo – it was a great opportunity to try different sports! We also listened to lectures and took part in workshops about topics such as health, nutrition and the importance of the right clothing for female athletes. There were also inspirational talks about the athletes’ personal journeys, which gave us the opportunity to ask questions and find out about what they had to do to reach their goals!

Overall – a motivational and inspiring day for all!
