The term started enthusiastically with the Jazz Band undertaking a workshop with Jazz professional Sam Eastmond. Sam is a bandleader, composer and arranger who currently runs Ealing Big Band and Ealing Jazz Orchestra. The workshop was in preparation for a concert being held in February where a number of Ealing schools will get together to perform a jazz extravaganza at the Questors Theatre.

Sam worked with the students on improvising, understanding jazz signals and performing a 12 bar blues piece.
