Junior Chamber Choir Performs at Cadogan Hall for 150th Anniversary Concert
On March 1th our Year 5 and 6 Chamber Choir sang as part of our 150th Anniversary Concert at historic Cadogan Hall in Sloane Square!
Following weeks of practice and a full day of rehearsals, Angellica Bell – NHEHS alumna, TV and Radio Producer, 150th Bursary Appeal Ambassador and host for the evening – welcomed the audience to an incredible evening of music.
Our amazing Junior girls performed “Vois sur ton Chemin” by Bruno Coulais conducted by Mr Sole before joining with our Year 7 Chamber Choir to sing Benjamin Britten’s ‘Jazz Man’ and ‘Old Abram Brown’ from Songs from Friday Afternoons in collaboration with the Year 7 Chamber Choir.
Our Juniors were also star performers in the world premiere of ‘Shooting Stars’ composed by leading British composer, Kerry Andrew, who had been commissioned to create the piece. Kerry decided to use alumna Violet Hunt’s poem ‘Shooting Stars’ as a starting point for the piece about connection and ambition. Senior & Junior Choirs came together with the Chamber Orchestra to perform it to rapturous applause.
Finally it was wonderful to see them join the Senior School Choirs and Symphony Orchestra for Cy Coleman’s ‘The Rhythm of Life’ as the finale.
Well done to all!
