Junior School Councillors Plan Charity Initiative
The Junior School Council recently met with Ms Bevan to discuss our next charity campaign – twinning our Junior School toilets with latrines through Toilet Twinning.
In order to raise money to twin our toilets with latrines in other countries, our School Councillors surveyed each class to find out what fundraising activity they would like to do and which country they would like to support.
Pupils voted to hold a ‘Cosy Day’ on Thursday 28th March (the last day of school before the Easter holidays), when pupils can wear something ‘cosy’ to school and bring in cosy items, such as cushions, teddies and slippers. At lunchtime, pupils will be able to snuggle up and get cosy in the new Junior School library and read books.
The countries pupils voted to support (in order) are: Pakistan, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Nepal, Malawi and Uganda.
Each toilet costs £60 to build, so the number of toilets twinned will depend on the amount raised on Cosy Day. We look forward to seeing everyone’s cosy outfits and will keep you updated on how many toilets we can build!
