Let’s Connect – Y9 Wellbeing Reps on Children’s Mental Health Week
Children’s Mental Health Week 2023 takes place from 6th-12th February 2023 with the theme of Let’s Connect.
Our new Year 9 Wellbeing Leads Meher, Alyssa, Annabel and Hattie shared a video for Children’s Mental Health Week in formtime encouraging us to find ways to improve our own mental health by connecting with others in healthy, rewarding and meaningful ways.
Human beings thrive in communities, and this connection is vital for our wellbeing, and our survival. When we have healthy connections – to family, friends and others – this can support our mental health and our sense of wellbeing. And when our need for rewarding social connections is not met, we can sometimes feel isolated and lonely – which can have a negative impact on our mental health.
Let’s Connect is about making meaningful connections for all, during Children’s Mental Health Week – and beyond.
Our Leads shared a few ways that they keep connected to help maintain good mental health, hoping to inspire our school community to reach out to someone or to reach out in a different way this week. They also encouraged students to speak to them or Miss Munro if they had any ideas about how we can improve our mental health provision at school.
Students made postcards with messages on what helps them with their own mental health in the form of tips and in the spirit of #LetsConnect, we’ll be sharing our postcards with pupils at South Hampstead High School.
