"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Local Ealing Primary Pupils Celebrate Completing BUDS Programme

2023 has been another great year for our BUDS enrichment programme. NHEHS welcomed 37 pupils in Year 5 from local Ealing Primary schools. On Saturday mornings pupils took part an exciting range of activities, including creative thinking skills, science and public speaking. BUDS aims to Build Understanding and Develop Skills and pupils have learnt the soft skills required to be able to think creatively, solve problems, and express their own ideas.

The final session saw pupils present poems they had written, they were watched on by their parents as they received a graduation certificate presented by Mr Shoults to celebrate their participation.

Colin Henderson – Assistant Head Partnerships and Co-Curricular said, ‘Watching the pupils grow in confidence from an academic and personal perspective has been fantastic. They have gained skills, had fun and experience new things. We look forward to continuing to build our partnerships across the Ealing community and grow the number of pupils on the BUDS programme’

Kerry Shilling, Head Teacher – Selborne Primary School added, ‘Being a part of the BUDS programme for another year has given some of our amazing pupils a fantastic opportunity to increase their cultural capital. They have thoroughly enjoyed attending your school and having access to the incredible resources and facilities you offer. They talk with great joy and excitement about the activities they took part in (I particularly enjoyed hearing them talking about dissecting a goat’s eye) and they left feeling inspired and enthused. One girl added that her confidence in public speaking has grown and another child noted that she would like to delve deeper into her understanding of Science and the way things work. Our school’s motto is ‘Inspire and Achieve’ so we feel that this link between our schools has allowed our pupils to live up to our school’s motto.’
