Meet our New Head of Sixth Form – Dr Pearce
By Dr. Pearce, Head of Sixth Form
It was with great excitement and anticipation that I welcomed the year 13s and the new year 12s into the Sixth Form Centre on the first day of term as their new Head of Sixth Form.
It was also not without an element of anticipation because I am very aware of the importance of these two years in terms of their formal education, but also their wider transformation in semi-independent autonomous beings that in two years time will be managing their budgets, their weekly food shop, making meals and balancing parties with lectures at universities up and down the country.
This speaks to why I took this job. I love being a teacher and sharing my passion for Biology, but it is the pastoral elements that bring me the greatest joy. We have a privilege to be able to help the young people at NHEHS to make some important life decisions, celebrate their successes with them, and help them navigate through challenging times.
I am at the end of my second week. We’ve had a fabulous team building day (the students smashed it), an inspiring lecture from Emily Penn on her adventures and how life can take you down routes you never imagined, and lots of laughter and joy in the Sixth Form Centre.
For those of you with daughters in the Sixth Form, I look forward to meeting you over the coming months, and for those of you with daughters approaching that big moment, I encourage you all to look out for the amazing achievements that come from the Sixth Form and the fun they have along the way.
