National Competitions for A Level Maths Students
Our A Level Maths students have been put through their paces over the last couple of weeks with two national maths competitions.
On Wednesday 27th September, 23 Further Maths students sat the UK Mathematical Olympiad for Girls (UK MOG). Consisting of five gruelling questions sat under test conditions, the national competition is held annually and aims to get more girls competing in mathematical olympiads.
On Tuesday 3rd October, all our A Level Maths students competed in the annual UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge. The 90-minute, 25 multiple choice question challenge was the first round and encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. Over 70 students from NHEHS took part in the competition, which attracts around 700,000 participants nationally.
We’ll find out the results for both competitions in a few weeks and top scorers will be invited to future Olympiad events. Best of luck to all those who were involved!
