"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

NHEHS CIPHEST 2023 Hosts 48 Ealing Primary School Year 5 Codebreaking Detectives

On June 15th we welcomed 48 Year 5 students to our CIPHEST 2023 codebreaking workshop with 16 pupils from St Gregory’s Primary School, 16 from North Ealing Primary School and 16 of our own NHEHS Junior School girls.

The students were split into six teams and set the challenge of working out who was the murderer in the take of The Sherlock Shenanigans, using a variety of decoding tools, including Caesar Wheels, Morse code & atbash cyphers and more to solve the clues to find the mysterious culprit.

A lively afternoon followed with much discussion as characters from Ada Lovelace to Maya Angelou to Amelia Earhart and Joan of Arc all came under the detectives’ suspicion. In the end, the amazing detective teams worked it out thanks to their codebreaking skills!

A big thank you to everyone for coming and to all the Cypher Club members for organising a fantastic event – Rahel, Ruby, Aanya (Year 10), Adeline, Annabelle, Aditi (Year 9) and Abi, Eleanor and Ella (Year 8)!
