NHEHS Wins Ealing Borough Cross Country Schools Relays Title for 8th Year in a Row!

By Natasha B, Year 10 Journalist Leader

On March 22nd, three teams of runners from Years 7-11  took part in the Ealing Cross Country Relay Championships at Perivale.

In this unusual event, one runner from each Year group runs one leg then passes on the baton to the next person in the year above. We had won this event for the past seven years so everyone was eager to maintain this winning streak and retain the trophy for another year!

With the original course being flooded due to the rain, everyone ran a slightly different course from previous ones, but still of the same distance of 1.5km. The A Race was incredibly tense to watch with us fluctuating between 1st and 2nd place all the way up until the final leg where Nicola (Year 11) stormed her leg to lead us to victory! The other NHEHS teams also put in a strong effort to place strongly.

One of everyone’s favourite things about this race is the team aspect with runners from Years 7-11 working together, encouraging and supporting each other during their legs. This was a very enjoyable and nice way to end the cross country season.
