"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Parent-Staff Team Conquer Ealing Half Marathon for The Log Cabin!

A huge congratulations to our Parent-Staff Team for taking on the Ealing Half Marathon last week. A team of 17 had trained over the summer for the 13.1 mile challenge while fundraising for our designated local Ealing charity, The Log Cabin, based in Northfields. The Log Cabin is a fantastic charity which helps children with disabilities and additional needs.  2023 was the fifth Ealing Half Marathon where we have supported the charity.

The team set off at the mass start just outside Walpole Park with over 3000 runners taking part. The route took them through central, north and west Ealing as well as the notoriously tough Greenford Avenue before the finish via the Uxbridge Road, Northfields and the welcoming Walpole Park.

We were delighted to see the fantastic support for our team along the route, including Mr Barrett and Mr Shoults outside the school who cheered on the runners who were at that point feeling the effect of running up Kent Avenue and in need of encouragement and jelly babies.

Mrs Johnson, NHEHS Charities Co-Ordinator who was part of our team said, “it was a great atmosphere as always and was so nice to see members of the team at different stages of the route – especially at the cross over points in Hanwell and West Ealing – some had nearly finished and I still had quite a distance to go! Thank you for being a part of the NHEHS team and for helping to raise money for such an important local charity.”

On Saturday, girls from Year 1 up to Year 11 had taken part in the Ealing Mini Mile in Walpole Park to fundraise for the charity, with many wearing their NHEHS PE kits. We also held a whole school Sports Dress Up Day on Friday where girls could come to school in sportswear in exchange for bringing in a donation to The Log Cabin.

In total we have raised over £2000 for The Log Cabin and would love to build on this so we can continue to contribute towards their invaluable work. If you would like to donate to this fantastic cause, our Just Giving page link is still open here. Thank you for your generosity and support.
