"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Sixth Formers’ “Bushra and The Butcher” Wins NHEHS Oscar!

Our Year 12 and 13 students got to put their creative talents to great effect last week on their Sixth Form Bonding Day with One Day Film School.

Divided into mixed Year groups, our Sixth Formers became film directors, producers, writers and actors for the day while creating their own short silent films around school.

They took part in sessions on Film History, Fight Choreography, Screenwriting, Camera and Editing, before making short films in groups, with the Oscar for Best Picture being awarded after 15 films were premiered on the big screen in the main hall.

There was a fantastic variety of film genres represented by the students, which made the decision for the Oscar Award winner all the more difficult, but “Bushra The Butcher” was declared a worthy winner.

The judges said: ‘This highly effective film made great use of unusual camera angles, editing and music – and packed more entertainment into 90 seconds than most feature films manage in 90 minutes’. Well done to the winning team of Year 12s and 13s of Isobel S, Amber D-J, Ruby H, Olivia F, Harriet R, Zara B and Ami H. And of course, the legendary Bushra!

You can watch the film here!
