For this week’s Sport: In Focus, we are turning to the martial arts. Meet Kajal P from Year 7, a brown belt in Karate!

“Hi, my name is Kajal and I am a brown belt in Karate.

I joined the LT Karate Club, which is part of the Gunnersbury Triangle Club, just before my 7th birthday. I have been doing karate for 6 years now.

We are affiliated with the United Kingdom Seiki-Juku Karate Organisation (UKSKO). Before COVID, we would train for 3-4 hours a week in our dojo. Now we have lessons for 2.5 hours. I enjoy sparring and learning new katas with my group. In order to grade, I have to demonstrate my katas and spar with other students from different dojos of the same grade. I have a brown belt and am currently working towards achieving my black belt.”
