"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Sport: In Focus – Year 9 Hannah on Hockey

The fourth of our PE department’s “In Focus” series featuring our pupils’ sports activities outside NHEHS focuses on keen hockey player Hannah K  from Year 9. “In Focus” is also shared on the PE department’s Instagram account and on the Sports Notice Board.

“My name is Hannah. I am thirteen years old and the sport that I enjoy most is hockey.

I play for Richmond Hockey Club in the U14 team, and I also play for the ladies’ 4ths/5ths team. I am also part of the Middlesex U14 team. I usually play defence or midfield. My training session for U14 is on a Tuesday night from 6:30pm to 8:00pm, while the ladies’ training session is on a Wednesday night from 8:00pm to 9:30pm. I enjoy playing hockey as it involves working towards a common goal with others and it has allowed me to make long lasting friends. It also involves an element of learning new skills that you can use during a game. I think more people should play hockey because it is a very underrated sport.”

If anyone would like to share their story of a hobby or sport that they participate in outside of school, please feel free to email any member of the PE department to be our ‘In Focus’ athlete.
