"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Sports Update – October 8th 2021

Good news from sport over the last two weeks!

Cross Country

Well done to our two Cross Country teams who took part in the English Schools first round at Harrow. Our Intermediate (Year 9/10) team were the top team at the event while our Junior (Year 7/8) team finished third so both qualify for the Regionals in St Albans in November. Four of our girls finished in Top 10 positions!

Last week our Cross Country teams ran in the Ealing Borough Schools Championships at Berkley Fields in Greenford. It was a fantastic event with great running by all girls. A special well done to Minna W in Year 8 who won her race, Rosie H  (2nd) and Nicola (4th) in the Year 10 race. We later learned that we finished as joint winners of the girls category together with St Augustine’s Priory. Our Junior School Year 5 and 6 runners also retained the Primary Shield. Congratulations to all runners!

Several of our Cross Country team members also represented their boroughs at the Mini Marathon (2.6km race for the top runners in each London borough) which took place on the London Marathon course on October 3rd. Great to see Rosie H, Nicola H, Natasha B and Minna W running for Ealing, Eadi S-J for Brent and Emma for Richmond!

Hockey

St Benedict’s were our hosts for four hockey matches this week. Our U13A team took the win 4-2 (MVP Katerina G) and the U13Bs won 6-2. Our U15A lost 0-6 and our first XI lost 2-4.

Last week was a very successful week for hockey, with wins for our U12Bs winning 3-0 v St Augustine’s (MVP Iskra CP) and our U12Cs 1-0, while our U12As drew 0-0. We also hosted St Francis Holland School, Regents Park with our U13A and B teams drawing 1-1.

Cricket

U14 cricketer Sophia Y was awarded her first Middlesex County cap at Lord’s this week! Congratulations, Sophia!

Netball

A busy couple of weeks of netball for all our teams with a mix of Cup and friendly matches.

Our U14A netball team travelled to Condover Hall for the GSA Cup and came away with the Cup despite playing the whole weekend with just an 8 player squad! Read Miss Dunkley’s report here.

The week of September 27th saw 15 netball matches against St Paul’s Girls away and NHEHS taking nine wins, three draws and three defeats. Our U13s achieved the following results: U13A 22-22 draw (MVP Imogen H), U13B won 14-9 (MVP Giuliana R), U13C lots 8-11 (MVP Yara A F), U13D won 7-4 (MVP Chloe K-H), U13E won 7-1 (MVP Katerina G). Our U16A team took a fantastic win 29-9 in the Sistersnsport Cup away at South Hampstead High in the second round on October 4th. Our U12A team lost by just one goal away to LEH in the Magazine Cup (MVP Olivia K). In the Prelim Middlesex Tournament, our U18A and U16A teams both took fourth place (out of 8 and 7 respectively).

Godolphin & Latymer played hosts to us on the 5th October for a series of U12 matches. Our A team won 18-12 (MVP Meredith J and Iskra CP) and our B team won 12-6 (MVP Joanna D).  Our C team lost 6-9, our D team 5-10, our E team 5-6 (MVP Sophia LK) and our F team 2-7 (Eleanor P). Great to see so many Year 7s representing the school!

We also played away at Twyford CofE on 7th October, with our U15B team playing out a high scoring draw 10-10 (MVP Ariana G) and our U15C team winning 12-11 (MVP Clemmie L-W).

Swimming

On 5th October our U12/U13/U14/U15 and U18 swimmers took part in the ESSA (English Schools Swimming Association) Secondary Team Qualifiers. Some strong results included a 3rd place in the 4x 50m Medley Relay and a 3rd in the 4x 50m Freestyle Relay. Results to be announced during half term when we will find out if we qualify for the next round!

Two days later we also took part in the London Schools Swimming event. It was a fantastic evening of racing by the whole team and again results will be sent through to us in early November.

Biathlon

We took part in our first ever Biathlon at LEH on October 2nd with our U12 and U13 teams! The U12’s swam 50m freestyle and ran 800m while the U13’s swam 100m and ran 1600m. Results to follow. Well done to all taking part!

Tennis

Our U14A team took on North London Collegiate School away in the Regional Final on 4th October. We lost 2-10 in a tough set of matches, but a good experience for all the girls who made it there.

Waterpolo

Our U14A team took on Highgate School at home on 27th September and won 14-0.
