"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Swimming at Junior School

Every Wednesday Year 5 and 6 look forward to swim squad training in our 25m indoor swimming pool. Girls trial for the swim squads every term from Year 3 upwards and if selected, take part in twice-weekly training taught by our specialist Swimming Coaches Mr Bent and Miss Newman.  The girls compete in regular Swimming Galas against local schools as well as the annual GDST Sport Rally, where our NHEHS Juniors swim against 25 GDST schools from all over the country!

All our Junior School girls have a weekly swimming lesson as part of PE from Year 1 through to Year 5, with our Reception girls first taking to the water in the summer term of Reception. Years 5 and 6 are able to join a recreational Swimming Club at lunchtime too.

Essential lifesaving skills are taught to girls from Year 4 upwards as part of their swimming lessons by our swimming coaches and Sixth Form Lifeguards. Our older NHEHS Juniors also use the pool for water polo training and matches from Year 5 onwards.
