U18 National Schools Netball County Round

By Addy M-S

On paper, the Middlesex Netball tournament on Sunday 19th November may have appeared to be a slightly disappointing day of Netball for the U18 Netball team, with us only winning two of the games we played but in reality it was one of the best days for our morale and perseverance as a team.

From my perspective of the event, there was not a single moment where if one of us was flagging, there was not someone there to pick them back up and revive them once again. This was despite it being a six hour long tournament with not a lot of concrete wins to boost our confidence. Nevertheless, everyone on the team who said they would turn up, turned up and we all worked together to take home the wins which we did which was the greatest victory in my eyes. In all honesty, the competition was extremely tough and it was amazing to see us put up the fight we did and when we did win our matches, it was incredibly satisfying because we fought for every ball. At some point throughout the day, every single player put on an incredible performance. We were constantly supplied with endless Haribos and energy bars from each other and our coaches which powered us on through to the end of the day almost as much as our own encouragement towards one another.

Therefore ,the whole day was a great success as it only strengthened our motivation to continue training in the way that we do as a team and it was a testament to our commitment to the sport over the past six years.
