Weekly Sports Update – 17th November 2023

Teams of the Week

Team of the week for 6th November was the U16 London Schools Waterpolo team who defeated both Eton College and Highgate and the NHEHS All-stars netball team who beat the U17 Surrey Storm Academy team as part of the 150th sports celebration match.

Team of the week for 13th November was the Junior (Year 7 and 8) Cross Country team who competed at the English Schools Regional Finals and finished 8th out of 18 teams.

 

Huge congratulations to Jaspreet G (Year 11) who has been selected to be part of the U18 GB waterpolo team!

 

Cross Country

Our Junior and Intermediate teams travelled to St Albans last weekend for the regional finals of the English Schools Athletics Association’s Cross Country Cup at Verulamium Park. The weather was kind although the course was still very muddy after all the rain during the week. The Junior team of five Year 7s and one Year 8 all ran really well to finish overall 8th out of 18 teams in the region, with a special mention to Sofia B who finished 14th out of 96 runners. Our 4-strong Intermediate team ran strongly to finish 12th in their age group.

Badminton

Our U14 and U16 teams enjoyed an away fixture at Godolphin & Latymer on 13th November which they won.

Hockey

w/c 6th November

Our hockey teams played and lost to Ibstock Place School, with the 1st XI losing 1-2 (MVP Anna W0, the U15As 1-2 and the U13As 0-1 (MVP Lara V-H).

w/c 13th November

Last week was a very successful one for our hockey teams with four wins, one draw and one loss. Our 1st XI drew one all away at Godolphin & Latymer (MVP Anna W), our U13A team won 8-2 at the John Lyons Boys School (MVP Lara V-H), our U12As lost narrowly 3-4 away to St Benedict’s (MVP Maria S-W), while the U12B won 7-0 (MVP Nina J) and the U14A also wo 4-2 vs St Benedict’s.

Netball

w/c 6th November

We enjoyed a wonderful 150th anniversary celebration match at Brunel University with our NHEHS All Stars taking on two Netball Superleague U17 teams. Read all about it in MVP Gen P’s report.

At the U13 GDST Netball Rally our U13A played fantastically to finish 3rd.

Our U13s played Godolphin & Latymer on 6th November with the A team drawing 22 all (MVP Aila ), B winning 14-11 (MVPs Lana G and Nishka P), the Cs 9-6 (MVP Ciara S), the Ds losing 2-11 (MVP Bea O) and Es losing 3-10 and Fs losing 1-13. St Augustine’s were our host for U14 matches on 7th November, with our A team winning 21-6 (MVP Manpreet G), B team winning 14-3 (MVP Lily Z), C team winning 10-1 (MVP Freya H), D team winning 6-1 (MVP Alishba A).

Our U18A and B teams lost away to Godolphin on 8th November, respectively 5-26 and 4-25. We hosted St Paul’s for an U15 fixture on 8th November with our As winning 20-15 and Bs 11-8. Our U13B team beat South Hampstead High at home on 9th November 9-5 (MVP Sofia B) and U13 C team lost 15-16 (MVP Ciara S) with the D team winning 10-3 (MVP Bea O).

w/c 13th November:

Our U13A team won through their second round game of the SistersnSport National Netball Cup with a 32-17 win against South Hampstead away (MVP Erin L), while our U18A team lost 32-45 against Highgate in the same competition. Our U13C lost 5-7 home to Christ’s School, the U16A won 434-12 away to Grey Court School in the National Plate round 1. We hosted St Paul’s for U14 fixtures with the As losing 10-21 and the Bs winning (17-11) – MVPs were Iskra C-P and Rebecca H. Our U12 C-F teams lost away to Godolphin & Latymer, respectively 0-9, 3-4, 1-6, 0-5 (MVPs were Ana M, Samara A-J, Elizabeth M, Ella C).  Our U15A won 14-9 home to Harrodian (MVP Adeife A) and B team 23-9 (MVP Georgia S).

Waterpolo

Our U16 waterpolo team won both matches in the U16 LWSL Cup, winning 8-5 vs Highgate and 10-5 vs Eton College (MVPs Jaspreet G and Evelyn S).

Trampolining

Our U16 team lost in a friendly away to Godolphin & Latymer, with our average score of 5.5 losing out to Godolphin’s 6.52.
