"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Year 5 BUDS Community Programme – STEM, Creative Thinking and Public Speaking

Year 5 Pupils at our BUDS Community Programme were definitely kept on their toes last Saturday with three fun and challenging sessions!

STEM – investigating how light works by building pinhole cameras and thinking about these questions: How do our eyes work? Are sheep eyes the same as human? How is a camera like a human eye?

Creative Thinking – using the work they had created last session to start building their street scenes focusing on communities.

Public Speaking – working on conducted speech & impromptu speaking while being challenged with topics chosen at random! This was the fourth BUDS meeting of our Saturday enrichment programme working with primary schools in Ealing (Stanhope School, St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School, Montpelier Primary School, Selborne Primary School, North Ealing Primary School and Hobbayne School). The BUDS programme is aimed at Building Understanding, Developing Skills in Gifted and Talented Year 5 pupils from local primary schools. With a focus on Science, English, Maths and Creative Thinking pupils will learn the soft skills required to be able to think creatively, solve problems, and express their own ideas.

Keep up the great work, everyone!
