"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

£5K Raised for Charities in First Month of Term!

By Mrs Johnson, Charities Co-Ordinator

One month in and we have already raised over 5k for our charities! Thank you for your wonderful generosity.

Ealing Half Marathon for The Log Cabin

Our amazing 40+ strong parent-staff team took on the challenge of the Ealing Half Marathon last weekend to raise money for one of our designated local charities, The Log Cabin. They were joined on the Saturday by 20 girls running in the Mini Mile in Lammas Park who had all pledged to raise money for the same fantastic cause. Well done to everyone running and also all our NHEHS community who supported us both on the route(s) and on our Just Giving page!

We are leaving our fundraising page open so if you spotted any of our intrepid runners and were impressed by their efforts, there is still time to donate here!

We also held an Activewear Day on Friday for The Log Cabin at both our Senior and Junior Schools as we were “running in spirit” with our EHM teams. Our Junior girls’ donations were split between The Log Cabin and Team Amara.

Our total for The Log Cabin is already over £4,500 – thank you everyone for donating!

Toy Bags for Refugees

We were bowled over by the response to our Toy Bags for Refugees appeal last week. We were keen to support the 62 refugee children who are being accommodated near Heathrow so decided to put together toy bags to be distributed by charity Care 4 Calais.  Two children were allocated to each senior school form who created an individual bag for them, filling it with new toys and gifts including books, school stationary, hair accessories, Lego, dolls and teddies. Some were held in backpacks which were ideal for the children who are starting school in the UK for the first time.

Red Green Day for Care 4 Calais

On 17th September senior school students were allowed to wear one red/green (the colours on the Afghan flag) item of clothing/hair accessory alongside their school uniform for a £1 donation. We managed to raise £400 with all the money raised going to the Ealing branch of Care 4 Calais who will buy clothing for both adults & children living in local hostels.

Year 11 Choose Anti-Slavery International as their Charity

Year 11 has voted Anti-Slavery International as their year group’s charity and will be fundraising for them this half term. They got off to a great start this week with a Bake Sale and hope to follow this up with a teachers’ karaoke, a clothes swap and a film event. Watch this space! Year 10 will be choosing their charity shortly.

The Harrow Club

As the finale to our Modern Foreign Languages Department’s “Week of Languages” last week, we held a screening of the Luc Besson film ‘The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec’  in the main hall, with all proceeds going to The Harrow Club.

Harvest Collection

There will be our annual Harvest Collection with a deadline of Thursday October 7th. There will be a form competition for who can collect the most and the best presented collection. Suggested food items are on the harvest posters in form rooms.
