Charities Update March 18th 2022
By Mrs Johnson, Charities Co-Ordinator
Our charities focus lately has been on Ukraine and fundraising to help UNICEF with their humanitarian aid activities. We were thrilled to feature in the Ealing Times this week with a feature on our blue and yellow sunflowers (the national flower of Ukraine) knitted by staff and students. We have already held a second hand book sale for Ukraine on Wednesday, a blue and yellow dress up day, a staff tea and cake morning. There will be a final bake sale for Ukraine as well as an opportunity to buy the popular knitted sunflowers on the 30th March, which coincides with Random Acts of Kindness Day.
A big thank you to everyone who donated items for our collection for Ukraine last week. We delivered the many boxes and bags to the Prosperity Ukrainian Restaurant in Twickenham who are co-ordinating sending the items out to Ukraine – who were really grateful for all donations.
Year 8 are continuing to fundraise this half term for their chosen charity, BEAT, holding a cake sale earlier this week, a guess the sweets in the jar and looking forward to a teacher dance event next week!
Year 7 will be in the charity fundraising spotlight next half term and have chosen to support Refuge as their year group charity.
This Friday we will be supporting Comic Relief, with a Retro Sports Dress Up Day and also a Dodgeball competition. We look forward to seeing some great outfits and action on the day!
On the volunteering front, we are now delighted to be involved with four local care homes, with students singing to residents at St David’s, Chestnut Lodge, Downhurst and Blakesley House.
Finally, we will be marking World Water Day on 23rd March with a number of activities on gratitude for water led by our Humanitarian Leads. The Year 10s will also go over to Junior School to lead an assembly on water.
Thank you for your continued support of our charities and volunteering activities.
