Head Girl Team Shares Their Plans for 2023-24
In preparation for this upcoming year, the Head Girl Team has constructed five unique initiatives, in many aspects of our school, that we believe will result in valuable change.
We firstly plan to build self confidence and self esteem through low stakes public speaking opportunities. We are more than ever aware of the importance of articulating ideas to an audience and hope to strengthen the skills that students gain in Year 7 Public Speaking lessons with Mr Shoults, and provide students with the confidence to share their own thoughts. This has been implemented at the end of last term, where we saw engaging and enriching assemblies, delivered by Year 7 and 8 form classes to their peers.
Our Games Captain, Anna is also incredibly passionate about increasing and maintaining the participation and motivation of all within sports. We aim to find a solution for students who find it hard to continue playing their sports while balancing their academics and other commitments. Putting a special emphasis on playing sport to maintain both physical and mental wellbeing is crucial to us.
Furthermore, as creative individuals, we deeply acknowledge the need to continually share our art within the student body, generating a sense of community and appreciation for art can be seen through termly atrium concerts of musical performances, spoken word pieces and original poetry recitals.
We also value the skills and confidence that we received when taking on leadership roles in younger years, whether that be a form rep or eco rep. Developing responsibility and self esteem through formative leadership opportunities may come to life in the form of Assistant rep roles.
In celebration of the school’s 150th anniversary, the HGT are also delivering weekly shoutouts celebrating people’s efforts in the hopes of culminating 150 official shoutouts. This will allow us to create a culture of community and congratulations through recognising achievement!
