"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Junior Swim Squad Win Swimming Gala

Our NHEHS Junior Swimming Squad were excited to host Bute House last week for a Years 3-6 Swimming Gala in our pool last week.

All of our 30 swimmers competed very strongly and took the overall win by 136 points to 123. Well done to everyone taking part!

Girls can trial for the swim squads every term from Year 3 upwards. Swim squad trains twice weekly with our specialist Swimming Coaches Mr Bent and Mr Hutchinson. The girls compete in regular Swimming Galas against local schools as well as the annual GDST Sport Rally, where our NHEHS Juniors swim against 25 GDST schools from all over the country!

All our junior pupils have a weekly swimming lesson in our pool as part of PE from Year 1-5, with Reception girls first taking to the water in the summer term of Reception. Years 5 & 6 are able to join a recreational Swimming Club at lunchtime too.

Our emphasis for learning to swim is to love and respect the water by teaching techniques that enable the girls to have continuous support in the water, becoming comfortable and confident at an early stage with the aim that the majority can achieve 25m by Year 2. Lifesaving, survival, water polo and competitive swimming are all included in our pathway from Year 1.
