"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Mrs Ferguson & Miss Munro-Hall Run PSHE Spring Conference at GDST

NHEHS Trust Consultant Teachers, Mrs Ferguson (Junior) and Miss Munro-Hall (Senior), recently ran the Personal, Social and Health Education Spring Conference at Trust Office, with PSHE Lead Teachers representing all the GDST schools in attendance.

Natasha Devon MBE, author, body image and mental health campaigner, was the inspirational keynote speaker.  Alongside the tips from her perfectly pitched presentation, she has provided additional resources for all the teachers to take back to their schools, so they can continue the work they are doing around these topics in PSHE lessons.

Over the course of this year, Mrs Ferguson and Miss Munro-Hall have run Trustwide Initiatives, where all the schools have had a united focus and shared resources for Black History Month, Anti-bullying Week, Children’s Mental Health Week and International Women’s Day.

The final initiative for this year is the upcoming ‘Just One Tree’ day, which will be held on 25th May, 2022. Students and staff are invited to ‘Go Green’ and contribute £1 so that the charity can plant (at least) one tree on our behalf.  Amanda Bronkhorst, founder of the Just One Tree charity and GDST alumni, spoke to the delegates about her charity and how the money we raise will be used.

They look forward to collaborating GDST wide with PSHE Leads in the Summer Term and continuing to develop the link between schools to provide the best PSHE provision for students.
