"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

- Mr Matthew Shoults, Headmaster

NHEHS Accredited by Royal National Children’s SpringBoard Foundation (RNCSF)

NHEHS is proud to have been accredited by Royal National Children’s SpringBoard Foundation (RNCSF). RNCSF is the UK’s largest bursary charity, helping young people facing the most challenging circumstances from across the UK to access great educational opportunities.

RNCSF works to bring the transformational opportunities offered by the UK’s independent and state boarding schools to the young people who will benefit from them the most. It works with more than 170 schools across the UK, each of whom has demonstrated its commitment to widening access and providing exemplary pastoral care and support for pupils facing disadvantage and vulnerability. This includes care-experienced and vulnerable young people who may be in foster care placements or residential care home settings and could be at risk of or have experienced physical or emotional harm. Young people can also be referred from areas of high socioeconomic deprivation.

Since 2017 the charity has supported over 1000 pupils with remarkable results and has developed a strong track record of improving educational outcomes; 99% of SpringBoarders achieved at least 2 A-levels (compared to only 16% of disadvantaged pupils nationally), 77% secured grades 9-5 in English and Maths GCSE (compared to 30% for disadvantaged pupils nationally).

By 2025 the charity aims to have supported 2,000 young people from challenging circumstances to access these opportunities – changing their futures, influencing their peers and becoming role models to others. SpringBoard supports pupils before and during their time at an independent school and beyond, ensuring they get the extra support they need to thrive.

RNCSF wishes to extend their reach and impact further by working with selected day schools, including NHEHS. We are delighted to be partnering with such a wonderful organisation and was proud to be amongst the first cohort of day schools in the country to be offering a SpringBoard student a place in 2023.
