NHEHS Pi Recital Record Smashed on Pi Day!
Our Maths Department celebrated Pi Day on 14th March, or 3.14 in the United States with some fun activities in the atrium at lunchtime!
First up was the annual Pi Recital where students had to call on impressive memory skills to see who could recite the highest number of decimal places of pi. Rhea, Zane, Melissa and Parisa all achieved strong performances, but were beaten by Year 9’s Rahel who managed 207 digits and our winner, Aggy from Year 10 who reached an amazing 242, beating the previous school record of 211! Well done to all taking part. Watch Aggy in action here.
We also got creative with pi bakes, making pi bracelets and estimating pi with a human circumference and diameter in the courtyard- all round good fun!
A big thanks to Mrs Drummond, Mr Lamagna and the Maths Reps!
