Six Year 6 Girls Represent NHEHS at GDST Maths Conference in Oxford
Oxford University’s Mathematics Institute opened its doors to Year 6 GDST mathematicians from right across the Trust on Wednesday for the annual GDST Year 6 Maths Conference!
Six of our lucky Year 6 girls represented NHEHS & enjoyed exploring more about ‘The Beauty and Wonder of Maths’ from professional mathematicians Alison Kiddle and Joely To (Pioneer Maths). An inspiring young Mathematician Joely is a GDST alumna herself.
🔺Patterns were an important part of the day, with fractals in broccoli, Sierpinski’s triangle and Penrose’s paving all making appearances. The girls were surrounded by art which has its roots in mathematical patterns as they explored the Conrad Shawcross exhibition.
The girls met pupils taking A-level Maths from Oxford High School who talked about their love of Maths and their aspirations for studying Maths at the highest levels.
A great day!
