Sixth Form Mathematicians Excel in Olympiad & Senior Mathematical Challenge
Last month nearly 20 of our top Mathematicians in the Sixth Form took part in the gruelling Mathematical Olympiad for Girls (MOG). The MOG is run by the UK Mathematics Trust and is aimed at girls and young women across the UK and challenges girls to tackle advanced mathematical problems. We were delighted to hear that we had been awarded five Distinctions and 14 Merits for our Further Mathematicians! Our distinction winners were Chloe, Daria, Zara Amrit and Millie. Well done everyone!
We have also been celebrating the excellent results achieved in the Senior Mathematical Challenge (SMC), also run by the UK Mathematics Trust. In the SMC, students are faced with stimulating problems to solve with 25 multiple choice questions aimed at Year 13 or below, to be completed within 90 minutes. Our Sixth Form Mathematicians were awarded seven Gold 17 Silver and 21 Bronze awards. Well done to all certificate winners!
From the SMC six students then went onto the Andrew Jobbings Kangaroo round where Chloe and Daria were awarded Merits. Congratulations! The Andrew Jobbings Kangaroo is a follow-on Round to the Senior Maths Challenge, where students are invited to take part based on an SMC score. Six of our students qualified for the Kangaroo with Chloe and Daria attaining Merits. Congratulations!
