"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Sports Update – September 24th 2021

Good news from sport over the last two weeks!

Tennis

Our U15 Tennis Team beat North London Collegiate School in the Regional Division 2 Tennis Cup to be crowned Regional Champions! Winning team: Ayah M, Lydia M, Anna W, Sephera F. Special mention to Gen P who played in the previous rounds to get the team that far but was unwell for the finals.

Abby G (Year 7) came runner up in the U12 Tennis Grade 4 LTA County Tour tournament in Northampton last weekend.

Swimming

The first swimming gala of the year U12/U13/U15 v St Paul’s Girls School took place with NHEHS taking the win 103 v 90. There were excellent performances by Emily B and Olivia K (Year 7), Daisy S (Year 8) and Nicola H (Year 10).

Hockey

Our hockey season kicked off with matches against St Augustine’s Priory away. The U13A team won 7-0 (MVP Olivia B), while our B team drew 1-1 (MVP Karma A-K).  Our 1st XI took on Oxford High School in a GDST knock out qualifier but lost narrowly 1-2, with Alice S MVP and Jasmine P scoring.

Gymnastics

Shobhitha Gnanaratnasingham (Year 11)  has been a national level Aerobic Gymnast for a few years and on the 4th of September 2021 she was part of the Trio that became National Gold Medallists at the British Gymnastics Championships in Aerobic Gymnastics for their Trio. Well done Shobhitha – this is an incredible achievement!

Netball

GDST Netball Select Squad

Genevieve P and Beatrice G were selected to attend the GDST select day on Wednesday. We are delighted that Gen has made it into the final squad of 12 for the GDST tour next year and Bea is the first reserve!

Last week was a busy week of netball featuring the Ibstock Tournament. Our U13A team were first up on Monday 20th September taking a amazing 3rd place! Next were the U12A team who took an excellent 2nd place overall, after only losing to the winners Surbiton A 3-6 in the final. On their way NHEHS beat Highgate 6-2, Surbiton B  8-5, Harrodian 9-1, Emmanuel 7-3 in the semi-final. Meredith was a fantastic captain and led exceptionally well. Lily & Mary-Kate were players of the tournament within the NHEHS team, both holding well in defence.

Wednesday saw our U18 netballers take 5th place overall, having won 4 out of their six pool matches and losing two by only one goal. They took the 5th place by beating Kingston Grammar School 12-6.

Thursday was the turn of the U15A team who took a great 3rd place in the tournament. There was a gripping semi-final against Highgate, which saw the teams level at half time, level at full time, level at extra time with Highgate winning with a Golden Goal (the first team to score after a game finishes in a draw).

A big well done to all our netballers playing at Ibstock!

The previous week, St Augustine’s Priory had been our hosts for our U13 and U14 teams on 15/16th September with NHEHS the winners in all eight games:
