"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Sports Update – May 6th 2022

A very successful week for school sport!

Firstly, a huge thank you to the PE department and in particular Rebecca Newman for running a fantastic Sports Awards last Friday.

It was a superb event, and many parents have emailed in to let us know just how much their daughters enjoyed it.

Team of the week: A really tight one this week, with the U15 Hardball Team beating Latymer Upper on Saturday in their first ever Hardball Cup Game, and the U13 Water Polo Team winning every match at the regional qualifiers to get to National Finals on the 16th May!

However, team of the week this week goes to the Intermediate (Year 9 and 10) Track and Field Cup team who won the County Round on Monday with an extremely impressive 398 points! (To put in into context the highest we have had previously got is around 320! points) The Junior Team also won with 309 points and so both will now go through to Regional Finals in June!

Athletics

Both our Intermediate (Year 9 and 10 -pictured right) and Junior (Year 7 and 8 pictured left) Athletics teams had a fantastic day at the Track and Field Cup Middlesex County Round on May 3rd. The Intermediates finished nearly 200 points ahead of the second placed school! An excellent team performance but highlights included top points scorers Natasha B (800m – 28 points), Rosie H (300m – 23 points), Nicola H (1500m – 23 points), Georgia C (javelin – 20 points and 100m – 18 points), Eadi S-J (800m – 19 points), Zoe J (100m – 18 points), Hannah K (200m – 18 points), Morven P (hurdles – 18 points, high jump 18 points), Ella M (high jump – 17 points) and Emma S (1500 – 17 points).

Well done to the Junior team too who beat Fortismere School to the top place. Highlights included Minna W (1500m – 22 points), Mary Kate T (1500m – 21 points), Annabella K (shot – 21 points), Lily H (800m – 20 points), Oleena CS (hurdles – 19 points), Iskra CP (800m – 18 points) and Sophie DJ (hurdles – 17 points). Looking forward to the regional round at Lee Valley next month!

Cricket

In the first round of the National Hardball Cup, our U15s were taking part for the very first time and came away with a superb win at Latymer Upper School by 6 wickets on April 30th.  The final score was 129-109 in our favour in the 20:20 format. Highlights were Sofia Y scoring 30 runs, three outs by Kikuko K (1 wicket, 1 LBW, 1 run out). A fantastic effort by the whole team!

Our U12A&B teams both won away at St Paul’s Girls School during the week and both by a winning margin of ten wickets.

In a busy week for cricket, our U15 team took part in the U15 Major Regional Indoor Cricket tournament, playing against the best teams from other regions. It was a great learning experience playing against skilled opposition against Bradford college, Seaford College and Ashford School. We look forward to aiming to reach the semi-finals next year as we had five Year 9 cricketers who all played up a year.

Rounders

St Augustine’s Priory were our opponents for a Senior rounders match which we won, away, by 9.5 to 4 on May 4th.

Tennis

Our U13A team took a great win 10-2 against North London Collegiate School at home in the first league game of the National Team Tennis (LTA) Cup.

Water Polo

Our U13A team were thrilled to qualify for National Finals! They did not lose a single game all day and are really looking forward to the finals in May!
