The Importance of Children’s Mental Health & Pastoral Care in Schools
To mark Children’s Mental Health Week 2022, Miss Munro-Hall and Mrs Ferguson spoke about the importance of children’s mental health and pastoral care in schools in an article with the GDST as part of their roles as PSHE Trust Consultant Teachers.
The article shares how important it is to look after our mental health as schools are moving forward after Covid. Defining the most effective approach to promoting positive mental health as one that involves the whole community: where there is a common goal and shared clarity between parents, staff, students and school, there are a number of GDST-wide initiatives which have been set up across the network of schools. This has included the creation of an online platform where resources can be shared and teachers are encouraged to pass on tips, advice and expertise, as well as recommend speakers.
