U11 Netball Team Wins Gold & Plate at Newland House Netball Tournament
By Mrs Vao, Head of Junior PE
After the initial disappointment of the U11 Newland House tournament postponement, our U11 NHEHS netball team were looking forward to travelling to Twickenham to take part in the rescheduled event.
Eleven schools in total were participating and were divided into two groups. Each team played five matches before being reseeded for the second round of games. The games were very short – 7 minutes one way – so all teams had to try to maintain possession and make the most of any goal scoring opportunities.
NHEHS had mixed results in the first round and were in the Plate Section for the second round of matches. They played some fantastic netball at times, winning three games and drawing one. It was a nervous wait to see where they were placed. It came down to goals for and goals against and there were nine delighted faces and cheers from the parent supporters when it was announced that NHEHS had won the Plate and gold medals.
It was a great morning of netball. Well done to Nina, Martha, Alice, Alexandra, Poppy, Isabella, Layla, Elizabeth and Amelia.
