Which is The Most Important Organ in the Digestive System?
By Ms Brown, Head of Science
This term our Year 9 biologists have been learning about the digestive system and in one lesson, the question of “which is the most important organ in the digestive system” bubbled up.
It provoked an interesting discussion as students were challenged to write a a one minute persuasive speech to convince the class that their organ was the most important one. The issue was then put to the vote. The stomach, pancreas, small intestine and large intestine were all up for discussion!
The winners were the stomach (Nadia M-S’s speech with her team of Klara S and Jaspreet G) with 12 out of 24 votes. Congratulations to Nadia for her very persuasive and fun argument! Well done to Matilda L (with Morven P and Kiki VL) for pleading the case of the pancreas, Alex D (with Anika S) on the small intestine, and Abi S (with Rufaro M) on team large intestine for putting their cases so well!
