"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Willow Tree Sports Ambassadors

The Willow Tree School Sport Partnerships Young Ambassador Programme is for pupils selected by their school who show potential to be outstanding young leaders. These Young Ambassadors will have the opportunity to develop skills that will support them to learn to lead and motivate others in their school to be physically active.

The PE Department were fortunate enough to put forward a group of Year 7 and 8 pupils who all show leadership qualities in their various sports and areas of enjoyment. Minna and Imogen from Year 7 and from Year 8 Alex, Zoe D, Morven, Emmeline, Natasha, Dana, Harriet, Mathilda, Klara and Jaspreet accepted the chance to be part of the programme.

The programme currently has four tasks which the pupils will try to undertake, namely: creating a poster advertising sport/being active in school; a blog post about an event or sporting project being undertaken at their school; finding ways to volunteer; creating an activity or game that involves being active/exercise.

The girls and parents attended a virtual introduction to the programme with Willow Tree programme leader Rachel Al-Hattabi, explaining the programme and its goal for its participants, as well as answering any questions the girls may have had regarding their role in the programme. The group then had their first informal Google Meet to discuss their ideas, thoughts on possible projects linking the Junior and Senior schools, as well as expressing their excitement.

In the coming weeks and in the second half of the Spring Term, we are looking to bringing the ideas that these pupils have to fruition, so keep an eye out on the NHEHS Sports twitter account and the student noticeboard!
