"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

From Activism to Enterprise at the Year 10 Enrichment Week

By Miss Munro-Hall, Head of Year 10

Last week, following on from exam week and building on the Sixth Form experiences of the Spring Term, our Year 10s experienced a week of enrichment activities.

The week kicked off with the Morrisby Careers Test which suggested some suited career options which the girls might want to investigate further. There will be follow up interviews next week. They also attended an Activism and Campaigning Workshop which delved into skills and strategies needed to create successful petitions and campaigns and how to publicise these effectively.

To end the day, the year group enjoyed a picnic and took part in some fun, team building games, including the ‘Battle of the Forms!’

Wednesday was Sixth Form Experience Day. Girls were given a choice of lectures to attend, which gave them them the opportunity to experience the different style and content of sixth-form lessons. In addition, they also heard from some alumnae as well as Mrs Collins, our Director of University Admissions, to give them a taste of the Sixth Form lecture programme and the process applying to University. Read Year 10 Journalist Leader Shivani’s report here.

Enterprise Day took place on Thursday, organised by the Bright Futures Experience company.

The day was designed to nourish and build on the girls’ initiative and entrepreneurial spirit, as well as providing students with some early business education which are deemed increasingly important by both the government and prospective employers.

A variety of activities were lined up for Friday, including a creative crochet workshop, a CV and Interview workshop focusing on how to write an effective CV.

The Year group then took part in a self defence class taught by a trained external instructor and to end the week, the girls finished with a pizza and music afternoon.

We also are looking to put on a Model United Nations Day for the year group in the autumn term.

The Year 10 tutors and I were very impressed with the girls’ attitude and enthusiasm throughout the week and are very proud of all they have achieved this year.
