Year 10 Music Trip to Wicked

By Jasmine De R R, Year 10

On Wednesday 21st June, 19 Year 10 Music GCSE students and music teacher Mr Head went to watch the musical Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.

The outing took place because one of Year 10’s set works ‘Defying Gravity’ comes from the musical. Wicked tells the backstory of the witches from L.Frank Baum’s Wizard of Oz. It follows the unlikely friendship between Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, the Good Witch of the North.

The entire production was incredible with amazing acting, sets, costumes and of course music! In my opinion, the best part was of course the song Defying Gravity. The actresses who played Elphaba and Glinda were both outstanding with each of them having an astonishing vocal range and great acting skills. Overall, the trip was great fun and enjoyed by the entire class.
