"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Year 7 & 8 are Middlesex Track & Field Cup Champions 2021!

On June 21st the NHEHS Junior (Years 7-8) and Intermediate (Years 9-10) athletics teams travelled to the Lee valley stadium for the Middlesex round of the ESAA English Schools Track and Field Cup 2021. Under normal circumstances the highest point scoring teams from different areas around the country would go through to regionals, as our junior team did in 2019. However COVID rules restricted the competition to one local round only this year.

The Juniors got off to a cracking start in the field in the morning session with particularly impressive performances from Georgia C (1st with 23.82m) & Jasmine DRR (3rd with 17.98m) in the javelin and Zoe J (2nd with 16.89m) & Emmeline (4th with 16.05m) in the discus.

Meanwhile the Intermediate team took to the track where there were strong performances particularly from Maddie H (13.9 seconds in 100m), Ella M & Rosie H (2nd and 3rd in 300m with 44.2 and 45.4 seconds), Eadi S-J (2nd 800m with 2 mins 40), Nicola H (2nd in 1500m with 5 mins 35).

At the halfway stage, the Juniors were leading & the Intermediates were in third.

The rain took a turn for the worse after lunch but the Junior team were even more impressive on the track in very poor conditions.

The NHEHS Junior team dominated the track events with wins in several of the races with the 100m (Zoe J in 13.5 seconds), 300m (Hannah P in 45.4 seconds) and 800m (Natasha B in 2 mins 27). Morven placed second in the hurdles with 13.2 seconds and Georgia also second in the 200m in 29.8 seconds. The total points tally was boosted further by excellent times from Kiki VL (200m), Isabella P (800m) and Emma S & Minna W  (1500m).

And special shout out to Year 7’s Minna and Oleena for running/jumping a year up against the Year 8s!

The Junior team’s total for the day came to 348 points – 44 ahead of second place and the highest total a NHEHS Junior team has ever achieved at the event where points are awarded according to times or distances recorded for each event. A fantastic achievement!

The Year 9 and 10s battled the worsening conditions in the field with some strong performances, notably Gen P taking a great win in the shot throwing 8.31m.

The final points tally showed the Year 9 and 10s finished third with 266 points, just 14 behind second place.

Well done to all our athletes on their performances & also for cheering their team mates on throughout despite the rain!
